In this article, we would like to show you how to sum all the elements from ArrayList in Java.

Quick solution:

List<Integer> numbers = new ArrayList<>();

int sum = 0;

for (int number : numbers){
    sum += number;
}

Practical example

In this example, we add the value of each number from numbers ArrayList to the sum variable.

import java.util.*;

public class Example {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        List<Integer> numbers = new ArrayList<>();

        numbers.add(1);
        numbers.add(2);
        numbers.add(3);

        int sum = 0;

        for (int number : numbers){
            sum += number;
        }

        System.out.println(sum);
    }
}

Output:
