What is the difference between antialiasing enabled and disabled in Paint.NET?

Can someone give an good example to quickly understand when to use it?

Enabled aliasing makes your shape edges "smooth".

Let's say you want to draw an arrow. Here's a comparison of an arrow with enabled antialiasing (on the left) and disabled antialiasing (on the right).

Practical example:

If you zoom in on the arrowhead, you'll see the effect:
