TypeScript - add minutes to date

In this article, we would like to show you how to add minutes to date in TypeScript.

Example reusable lambda function

In this example, we create a simple function that takes two arguments:

• date to which we want to add some minutes,
• minutes - a number of minutes we want to add.

Practical example:

const addMinutes = (date: Date, minutes: number): Date => {
  const result = new Date(date);
  result.setMinutes(result.getMinutes() + minutes);
  return result;
};


// Usage example:

const date: Date = new Date('2021-08-30T23:59:00.000Z');

console.log(addMinutes(date, 2).toISOString()); // 2021-08-31T00:01:00.000Z

Output:

2021-08-31T00:01:00.000Z

Note:

As you can see, the function also handles the case of the day change.
