In this article, we would like to show you how to convert character to ASCII code in C#.

Quick solution:

char character = 'A';
int ascii = (int)character;

Console.WriteLine(ascii); // 65

Practical example

In this example, we cast character to integer to convert it to the ASCII code.

using System;

public class Program
{
    public static void Main()
    {
        char character = 'A';
        int ascii = (int)character;

        Console.WriteLine(ascii);
}

Output:

65

The cast is not required explicitly but improves readability.

This solution will also work:

using System;

public class Program
{
    public static void Main()
    {
        char character = 'A';
        int ascii = character;

        Console.WriteLine(ascii); // 65
    }
}
